About Us
Bildspec was established in 1969 by Sydney engineer John Ellacott. The business began as the NSW distributor for an international manufacturer of folding doors and operable walls. When the overseas manufacturer ceased operations in the mid-1980s, Bildspec transitioned to designing and manufacturing its own operable wall systems, utilising high-quality, locally sourced components. At the same time, the company relocated from its original Redfern premises to a manufacturing facility in Marrickville.
Through this period, Bildspec quickly built a strong reputation for delivering industry-leading products with fast lead times and exceptional value. Value, in this context, extends beyond price alone and encompasses product quality, reliability, speed of delivery, and a high standard of customer service.
In 2019, John Ellacott retired and Bildspec was acquired by The Kaplan Door Group, owners of The Australian Trellis Door Company and EBS Solutions. In 2020, Bildspec expanded its operations to include the supply and installation of products in Victoria and Queensland, and we now service projects Australia-wide.
Also in 2020 (and following continued, significant growth), the company relocated its manufacturing operations from Marrickville to a purpose-built facility in Regents Park, Sydney.
